2.5GB per episode lol. Also after reading “mcbaws21” post I would choose subsplease. Chihiro for some time is hard to read and weird. Also no honorifics for me is like -100/10 but anyone can choose what to watch. Good Luck.
If you walked into a classroom in England, would you expect the teacher to start the lesson with “Howdy y’all?” Of course not - that’s a Texas thing, developed through Texan culture. Re:Zero occurs in a different world. There’s no reason they would have Japanese mannerisms of honorifics.
In most cases that is our policy - Japan or Japanlike world (think Virgin Road) honorifics, otherwise no.
i never understood people who insisted that honorifics always be in anime subs. you can hear them anyways, why do you need them to also show up in your subs
They also removed Beatrice referring to herself in the third person.
How about that, honorific haters? No more Betty. Is that a world you want to live in?

This is a fairly common occurrence, even in Light Novel translations.
BTW, Polish LN translation of Re:Zero omit phrases like ‘kashira’ or ‘I suppose,’ as they can sound awkward or unnatural.

Many of the characters in Re:Zero have extremely cartoony speech patterns, so I’m not sure what the point of “fixing” certain ones is.
The odd speech patterns are part of their appeal =/. And removing honorifics? And claiming it’s a setting thing when everyone is saying them quite clearly? It doesn’t matter if it doesnt’ make sense, many things in anime don’t.
What do fansubbers feel obliged to contribute towards worldbuilding now because they feel the actual original script doesn’t go far enough?? That’s a bizarre take.
That said, I do feel that fansubs in general are a net positive to the world; it’s a healthier ecosystem so to speak, so I guess there’s that at least, outwith my own beforementioned opinions on certain decisions.

Agreed, Stuff like “de arimasu~” in the old Shana fansubs should be kept as-is.
