The source BD is an upscale, so this was encoded in 720p since there were no 1080p details.
Video is CRF 15 qcomp 0.7, 4:4:4
Japanese 5,1 audio is QAAC q109 from TrueHD (510-660kbps AAC)
English 5.1 audio is the source 640kbps AC-3
OP uses linked mkvs
Japanese audio/English subs default, as in all my releases.
The MKV language selection is set to ENG for the English subs and ZXX for the Signs & Songs like all my dual-audio releases, so if you’re a dub watcher just enter ZXX in LAV Splitter and you’ll get signs automatically.
Other dual-audio releasers use idiotic systems like marking the English subtitles JPN and using ENG for the signs (standard for Exiled-Destiny), which means sub watchers will always get the signs because we’re set up to pick ENG to get English subs in every other release. Or the groups just mark them both ENG, which means LAV Splitter doesn’t know which is which and will just pick the first, and since these groups mostly release with English/Signs default it once again means sub viewers get the signs. So neither of those systems works.
In order for the tracks to be able to be picked automatically, the English subs need to be marked ENG and the Signs something else, so I decided on ZXX (no linguistic content) for Signs just because it’s not used for anything else.
Revision history:
v1 used 350kbps AAC for the English track from the 640kbps AC-3 since I usually aim to skimp on the dub a bit for file size reasons (anyone who cares about quality doesn’t listen to dubs anyway). But since this dub is pretty good and it only added a hair over 1GB for 26 episodes, I went back and reinserted the original AC-3 for v2.
v3 fixed episode 6. (Thanks Akatsuki Nin)
v4 fixed the signs track being set to default and adds Tachikomatic Days

Thanks for the release kuchikirukia.

This is my encode. Kametsu won’t be found here. They believe they own all raws, subs, and the right to remux, so the snowflakes are triggered on other remuxes. When any actual work is done they’re as quiet as church mice hoping nobody notices them.

e.g. :
jpn:eng|n jpn:eng|f jpn:jpn|f *:jpn *:eng

So there isn’t any reason why a sub-watcher can’t get their preference to automatically play regardless of track language settings.

Problem is that will give you non-default sub tracks in multi-sub releases. The default flag alone will never be a reliable indicator of a signs track since you’re never going to get the entire encoding community to agree to English/Signs default since the majority opinion by the users seems to be it should be Japanese/Sub.
The Signs track doesn’t need to be labeled English. It serves no purpose in selection and only serves to make it nearly impossible to differentiate it from the sub tracks. A ZXX designation allows for, “eng:zxx eng:eng|f eng:off *:eng|d *:eng” with an audio selection of eng jpn.
If English audio, Signs
Else English forced
Else off
For any other audio, English default.
Else English.
It’s the complete package covering everything from dual-audio to single to capeshit.

I think there is a misunderstanding somewhere. I was the one that gave the settings to Koby. In the end what I watch with Anime is the japanese audio track with the full english subtitles track, even on dual-audio files. That was what Koby wanted to know when he asked.
@Kuchikirukia, what your setting does is only playback the english dub with the signs. which is what you might have misunderstood on Koby post. I have tried it with the files in this torrent. Your setting also does not playback any english subtitles with bdmv movies which is what I need. I also watch english movies with english subtitles with the same media player used to watch Anime.

I’ve also erroneously gave the wrong settings to Koby. It is a mistake on my part. It should be “jpn:jpn|!d jpn:eng|n jpn:eng|f jpn:jpn|f *:jpn *:eng” with Audio: jpn, eng.
That playbacks japanese audio with full english subtitles on your file, kametsu file. It also playbacks english subtitle on bdmv movies. I’m happy. Everybody watching japanese track/full subtitles is happy.
Having pointless argument like this where everyone is on the losing end is counter-productive. Waste of energy, waste of time. I rather everyone calm down and go back to watching anime.

My settings were for a dub/signs viewer. Of course they’re not going to work for a jpn/eng one. Using ZXX signs, one that works for someone who watches Anime subbed and capeshit subbed would be:
jpn:eng eng:eng
hate_machine420
are you going to do the second season?
kuchikirukia (uploader)
I did this because it was AotF on AB and there were no good encodes. 2nd GIG seems to have been done by THORA and they’re normally pretty good. Unless there’s a reason I should, I have no plans to.
It seems THORA isn’t uploaded to AB so maybe I’ll do so and check them out.
kuchikirukia (uploader)
Eh, maybe I will do it. THORA is HDTV which isn’t very good, and I’m pretty sure I can beat OCZ’s 1080 in 720. OCZ’s 720 is terrible.
hate_machine420
what i hate the most about all you encoders is none of you have any consistency. guess ill just encode it myself.
MoogleStiltzkin
any chance for HEVC treatment? confused why ctr opted for 1080p encode of this. normally they would be the ones to say they won’t 1080p because no point when there is a reason, just like you did. but i wonder why that wasn’t the case for this anime hm? anyway, this will be replacing the ctr release i had stored :}

I’d hate to be a bother, but seeding is greatly needed for me to finish the download lol. Thanks!

Why does ordered chapters or linked mkvs not work for me on this release and the second season’s but seem perfectly fine on the Utena v2?
